You might ask why transistor like 2N2222 is used here. Bipolar transistor like 2N2222 is current amplifying device which amplifies the base current by its current gain to get amplified collector current.

The speed can be reduced to any desired value depending on the amount of resistance added. The voltage across the armature drops as the current passes through the rheostat.

In second and third cases the button is pressed even lesser time compared to first case. Because of this, the RMS terminal voltage at the motor terminals gets even decreased further.

The BLDC motor has a different from brushed dc motor to number of leads, and the connection is more complicated.

Using any method of connecting the wires, securely attach the resistor to the power supply using one wire, attached on both ends, or by connecting the components directly together. The amount of resistors here may vary depending on what speed the motor must run at.

The ECUAL DC_MOTOR driver is built for STM32 microcontrollers using one Timer channel in PWM mode. You’ll have to configure an instance of it and use the APIs to initialize, start, change speed, stop your motor, and that’s all.

You basically right-click the project name in the IDE’s navigator and choose to create a new > source folder. And name it ECUAL and go to the GitHub repo, download the files and copy the “DC_MOTOR” folder and back to the IDE, right-click on the ECUAL and paste the library into it.

A variable resistance(Rheostat) called field diverter is connected across the series field winding. A portion of the current flowing through the series field winding is diverted into the field diverter by varying its resistance.
